Sarah Barrios is the 20 year old acoustic pop singer/songwriter Sarah Barrios, is a quiet storm that’s taking over the local music scene in CT and now all of New England! The Torrington, Connecticut native wrote her first song at the young age of thirteen, but it was not until early January 2013 that she decided she wanted to further her involvement in music. In April of that year, Barrios auditioned for FOX’s hit television series, “The X- Factor,” where she made the first two rounds of auditions and on the first day, was in the top 200 out of 11,000 contestants.
This year, Barrios started working with recording artist, Tracy Walton, to create her first EP. Recently, Barrios won The New England Music Award’s “Best New Act of the Year” a huge honor for a young lady having been in the music business for not even a year! Sarah is touring this summer throughout New England as a headliner as well as, opening for several national recording artists. As Connecticut Magazine recently said, “Sarah Barrios IS CT’s Rising Star . Sarah is the girl to watch”!!!
Jennifer Hill is starting a small fire…a fire that she hopes will ignite your soul and burst it into a pile of flames on the ground. She is feisty, heartwarming, and armed with a big voice inside a small frame. Known as both an outstanding vocalist/pianist and musical activist in the Indie Scene. Her work is a menage of uptempo and brooding melodies with lyrics inspired by love, life, loss and the messed up things life has to offer.
She has been compared to Fiona Apple with a touch of Lady Gaga and a sprinkle of Blondie and can either rock you with a full band or bring you to tears (in a good way) with just her voice and the keys.
Currently the band consists of Jennifer Hill on Keys of all kinds Bob Schwecherl on Drums and Isaac Young (of the Isaac Young Quartet) on Keys of all kinds as well.
The sound is a mix of Indie Piano Rock with a definite Blues and Cabaret influence. It gets as bawdy as a piano speak easy and as beautiful as a Tori Amos descant.
“She’s like Lou Reed mixed with Fiona Apple with Vaudvillian sound on the keys” (Hartford Advocate 2013)
Finalist (in top 5 out of hundreds of nominees) for Best Singer/Songwriter at 2012 CTMA (Ct Music Awards)
