10 YEARS!! And Growing?!?
The evening was Feb 19, 2010.
The place was the Artwell Gallery on Water Street and they were about to help birth a most desultory life. Filled to the brim with people who came for an art exhibit invaded by a most unusual short play. A collective ensemble of people seeking something different.
That night, with the help of Artwell, Matthew Doyle, Eric Wilczak, Jess Rawling, Tom Foran, Katherine Ray, Maximilian Tieman, Brenna Mack, Otto Pippinger and Paul Revaz, the magic of The Desultory Theatre Club took hold. And now with a hundred plus shows, helping highlight local arts, artists and arts scenes we can look back and be real proud of our decision to share these experiences with you in the northwest corner of CT.
As we enter our 10th year, with over a hundred shows in an amazing variety of locations… bringing together sooo many artists from CT. And watching the new projects that spawned from there.
I can’t wait to see what surprises unfold this year. And we are certainly excited about sharing with you. If and when those brilliant ideas do happen…
But for today, we would like to just say Thank you. For those of you who truly support and make a genuine effort to help your local arts scenes.
This year more than ever we need to find new ways to share our imagination and light with each other. See you soon…
2020 – Time for an Update!!

Been a bit, but our one and only, Keith Paul has been super busy collaborating and making some awesome new connections to improve our robust roster of shows!!
Jumping back to last October, Keith was the one of 8 recipients to receive the Litchfield Hills Creative Award, honoring his volunteerism and helpful collaborations in the Connecticut arts scene

Hello everyone! It’s me, Keith Paul! I just wanted to take a minute to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this years “Secret Shakespeare” Alice in Concert, such a grand success and helping to cause a big splash of culture in the Northwest Corner! And to those curious few who were able to secure tickets for this Limited Run, what a time they had chasing Alice around Whiting Mills awash in Chaos and Wonder!

We are pleased to announce another crazy “Secret Shakespeare” event as we team up once this coming Labor Day weekend with the wonderful folks at the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council and Whiting Mills!

This year we are tackling some different material in that crazy “Secret Shakespeare” style! And we want YOU to come out and play with us as we put together the craziest musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Elizabeth Swados’ “ALICE IN CONCERT”!

Spring has… Well, not quite yet…

Hope this update finds you all warm and doing well!
Things are busy here at the DTC homebase as we are cooking up the details for some fun projects coming up during our 9th Season. So stay tuned for “Secret Shakespeare” and “Robot Dance Off” news and maybe a few other surprises?!?
But till then, there’s a lot going on with our very own Keith Paul and his pals at Elmwood Productions!!
First off… We are Kickstarting an ALL PUPPET “ART FILM”!!
“Right now a lot of creators are using Patreon to fund their projects. And it’s great. Especially for short projects, podcasts, and YouTube shows. Donating monthly to a creator and getting exclusive content is amazing. And people keep asking if we’re going to start one here at Elmwood Productions. Well, we’re not…The type of projects we do tend to not really work with that format and we want to keep creating content that is new and exciting for you and us!
Instead of hitting you up for a monthly donation, we’re just going to ask you from time to time when we tackle larger projects. And you can just pick and choose what you’d enjoy supporting as the projects come up!
So, please join us in our journey as we make an experimental art film! And it stars ALL PUPPETS! You’ll see we’re not even asking for much. Our goal is $500.00. And our incentives are pretty fun too. And we have made them for all wallets… From a buck to 10,000 bucks if you have money to burn.

Join Elmwood Productions and The MAC 650 Gallery for a screening of “ANIMAL BEHAVIOR”!
“Animal Behavior” is a family friendly web series that stars The Elmwood Puppets!
There is a $5.00 suggested donation at the door, proceeds go to MAC 650!
Doors open at 6:00, and the film starts at 7:00 PM!
About the show: “My cats are trying to kill me.” Is one of the first things you’ll hear the frazzled cat owner Jon say as he confesses his fear. And his friends all laugh. But his cats, the charming and mischievous Tugger, and clueless kitten Ripper have planned to do away with him. Why? Well Tugger is in love with, Jon’s girlfriend, Brie. And Tug believes if Jon’s out of the picture she’ll take them in!
Total Run time is 45 minutes! And it’s rated G!

Approaching our 9th year…
Greetings Fans and Frenemies!
I Hope this post finds you warm and doing well. I know we’ve been a bit silent the last few months as I, Keith Paul, have been rehearsing and getting ready to perform in the Warner Theatre’s production of A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder! (Opens Feb 2!) But we are working on some fun stuff for you including another round of “SECRET SHAKESPEARE” at Whiting Mills and of course… ROBOT DANCE OFF 2019!!
So I attempted to use my big boy words after the Table to Stage Podcast cornered me for a fun conversation about the beginnings of The Desultory Theatre Club and where 2019 may lead us.

We’re teaming up for another great night of art, music and good vibes. And do we have a sweet show for you coming up at the Noelke Gallery here in Torrington, CT with solo acts from Jared Knapik and Amelia Ellis, and power duo Say Love!
For months now the Noelke Gallery has allowed our friend and collaborator RanaTron Justice to share his gallery space and help bring some much needed original music back to Torrington and this show will be the perfect representation of combining music and art.
