One of Agatha Christie’s most ingenious murder mysteries!  Lost in the fog, a stranger seeks refuge in a nearby house only to find a man shot dead and his wife standing over him with a smoking gun. But the woman’s dazed confession is anything but convincing and the unexpected guest decides to help. Remarkably, the police clues point to a man who died two years previously but as the ghosts of a past wrong begin to emerge, a tangled web of lies reveals family secrets and chilling motives, where the real murderer turns out to be the greatest mystery of all.

“There is an ingenious display of suspects, as if lids were being taken off wells of depravity and hastily put back.” – Lawrence Kitchin, The Observer

“The impact is tremendous… Just when the murder seems solved … Miss Christie pulls her almighty knock out punch. I admit her complete victory.” – London Evening Standard

“It kept last night’s audience in a state of stunned uncertainty; guessing wrongly to the last.”  – Philip Hope-Wallace, The Guardian

HERSTORY 3: JOURNEY WOMEN

This coming March 9th and 10th our very own, Keith Paul returns to direct the one act play, “The Astonishing and the Lily” written by Kendra Augustina as part of HERSTORY 3: JOURNEY WOMEN, two evenings of new plays celebrating the strength and bravery of unsung heroines.

Screen Shot 2018-02-03 at 10.18.50 PM

Now more than ever, it’s important for women to tell our stories and make our voices heard. The goal of this project is to continue shedding a light on the untold stories of women in our country, both in our history, and on our stages. HERSTORY 3 features the stories of two sisters attempting to reconnect with their late grandmother, a painter exploring her sexuality, a saint fighting for the recognition she deserves, and an activist on a quest to restore hope for herself and her country. All of these women, from all parts of the globe, are on a journey to discover their true selves and embrace their destinies.

The plays featured in HERSTORY are part of 365 Women a Year. This international playwriting coalition involves over 200 women across the world who have signed on to write one or more one-acts about extraordinary women in history. The project’s ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness as well as empower and promote female playwrights, and plant seeds of herstory around the country.

HERSTORY will take place at the Institute Library in New Haven, CT, and will also include “We-Remember” written by Amy Oestricher and directed by Ingrid Oslund, “Frida Kahlo: Heartbreaker” written by Lylanne Musselman and directed by Teresa Langston and “The Legend of Sigridur Tomasdottir” written by Natalie Osborne and directed by Moira Malone. There will be a raffle with gift cards to local business and other fabulous prizes. Refreshments will be served free of charge. There is a $10 suggested donation for entry.

Tickets are available at the door or at https://institutelibrary.z2systems.com/np/clients/institutelibrary/event.jsp?event=1203

Robot Dance Off 2017

Dance and groove the night away to some of CT’s hottest bands!! Joining us is our favorite rapscallion of vinyl, DJ Zerp, to keep the beat going! Birthed from our “Out of this World Burlesque and Variety Show”, DJ Zerp has gone on to take CT by storm, playing at all the hippest events and churning out some killer beats, including his recent album, THE BAD.

We are also happy to bring Falconeer on board! Trent Reznor and Megaman had a baby, and it was this. Falconeer is a new instrumental audio/visual project bringing the spectacle back to CT. Blending over-the-top synth pop and retro game influences, Falconeer builds on a vintage synthesizers, modified video game consoles, and a bit of tongue-in-cheek nostalgia for hyperbolic electronic hits of the 80s to make a sound somewhere between Kraftwerk and LCD Soundsystem.

We are super excited to welcome back RDO favorites, Mission Zero!! They are frequently asked the same two questions: “Are you guys twins?” and “Where’s the rest of the band?” Creating lush, shiny indie pop that fills a room, siblings Chenot and David Keith (no, they’re not twins) start with powerful, intricate drumming and rich vocals and flesh out their sound with both live and pre-programmed synth and guitar. As WPKN Radio put it,“They sound much bigger than a duo.” The siblings have played separately and together all over the world in a variety of bands (including David’s current gigs with rock icon Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow and Blackmore’s Night). Their sound has been compared to the music of Phantogram, tUnE-yArDs, Sylvan Esso, and the Eurythmics, but the band’s sound is ever-evolving and truly all its own.

We have some special guest to keep you fueled up for the evening! Camped right outside for whenever you need a break to re-energize your batteries, we have The Green Grunion FOOD TRUCK , a San Diego style burrito truck that provides the fine people of the greater Danbury area (and beyond) a TRUE burrito done the San Diego way… right!

and supercool Mobilepubevents bring us The Mobile Pub!! Connecticut’s 1st on-site mobile bar service! The Mobile Pub is a completely rebuilt and renovated 1962 Shasta caravan transformed into a fully operating bar!!

So come prepared to PARTY PARTY PARTY (responsibly) amongst legions of cool peoples, amazing music and good eats! It’s a party like no other, so buy your tickets TODAY before this event sells out!!

First 50 tickets sold come with a special surprise you can pick up when you stop by the door to show your ID and get your wristband!! Bring your ID and check in with the Lovely Sarah B Sweet or maybe even the one and only Keith Paul at the door. (**If online tickets do not sell out, they will be available at the door the night of the show.)

Within the iconic Whiting Mills, a Victorian New England mill-turned-arts-community along the Still River, theatergoers will explore the bard’s beloved masterpiece. Deconstructed, re-interpreted and put back together in different spaces throughout this amazing venue, “tour guides” will lead audiences on a journey, transporting each audience member into a land shaped by Shakespeare’s text and visualized in new ways by an all-star cast involving five performance arts groups.

The award winning Backyard Theatre Ensemble (of Cheshire and Thomaston) will be directed by Lucia Dressel who was recently was named “Best Director” in the 2017 OnStage Theatre Awards for her work on “The Diary of Anne Frank” in Thomaston.

The popular puppet crew, Elmwood Productions from Bristol, will present a special interpretation under the direction of Rick Passmore.
