Boy Girl Party -
“Boy Girl Party has a little chip on their shoulder, but a few minutes on the dance floor shakes it off. Sincerely nerdy and unabashedly silly, they are on a constant hunt for new band friends and dance partners with a decent sense of time and a better sense of humor. If the band itself wore glasses, it would have to use one of those things that goes around your head to keep them from falling off… your face.”

Pocket Vinyl -
“The basic basics:
-Eric Stevenson slams on the piano and sings while Elizabeth Jancewicz paints on stage
-The paintings are sold every night to the highest bidder
-They tour as a full time job
-They’re likable”

Kate Callahan -

“WNPR’s Colin McEnroe reviewed Kate’s recent performance at the Hartfolk Festival, saying, “Kate Callahan is the only performer I’ve ever seen who occasionally seems to be channeling something vaster and far more ancient than herself, something more easily understood by Emerson than by any modern person.” McEnroe goes on to say, “…with Begley and Wolcott flanking her, with the superb Andre Balazs on piano and the exuberant Kaia Pazdersky on violin, there was a kind of giant, multi-pronged Emersonian celestial tuning fork onstage. It was a pretty thing to see, and it put light in one’s heart.”

The Sawtelles -
Husband and wife duo the Sawtelles are a balance of four elements, alternate-tuned guitar, stand-up drum kit (ala Velvet Underground’s Mo Tucker) and two voices. Sparse but intricately arranged pop that is as lush as it is threadbare makes what is played as important as what isn’t.
Their self-produced DYI philosophy aligns them more with the hand painted Sun Ra LP’s of 1950’s and 60’s then it does with those striving for mainstream commercial success.
